Front Windows and Deck Ledger

Finally getting started on the front basement windows.  Will also be installing the ledger for the front deck, so some extra demo of the stucco was required.  My temporary vent cover stucco was a little harder to remove, so I haven't done it yet in these pictures.

Basement Bedroom Window

Finally getting the first new window installed in the basement bedroom.  There was some wood rot under it, so I had to replace that wood, and update the sheathing.  Ran out of sealing tape so it's only partly done in the last picture.

Front Window Removal

Starting the process to remove the terrible window above the entry door.  The vent above it was allowing quite a bit of water in which case a fair amount of rot in the roof joists.  So I will need to shore them up.

Rear Sheathing Repair and Framing

The old rear deck joists were just nailed to the floor joists in the house with no proper ledger.  This of course allowed water to get in back there.  This was expected.  Fortunately it was only the sheathing with was rotten.  The studs were solid.

Garage Demo and Lighting

Had to remove some of the ceiling drywall in the garage.  Eventually it will all need to be replace with proper 5/8 drywall and have some insulation installed.  There is zero insulation between the garage and the upstairs.  Also put in some LED lighting to make it more usable.

Bedroom Demo

Need access to the wiring, and access to the rear wall as I expect to need some wood repair on that wall.

Basement Fireplace

Got the framing done and part of the drywall up for the new basement fireplace.  Have the electric insert temporarily inserted just so I can visualize.  Wiring will be internal when it's done and the inset area around the fireplace will be painted black.

Bathroom Demo

Starting the demolition of the ceiling in the basement bathroom.  Need to do this so I have access to all the wiring and plumbing. Found a little friend.

Front Entry

Starting to experiment with colors on the trim and door of the front of the house as well as the garage doors.

Faucet Fix

Finally got around to fixing that horrible plumbing job that was done on the external front faucet.

Basement Ceiling

Started experimenting with colors in the basement ceiling.  First experimented with painting between the joists, but it ended up looking cheap. Then I tried painting it all with the dark green. Ended up going with just a simple flat black.

Discovery Demo

Needed to find out what I was dealing with for the removal of the load bearing wall in the kitchen.   Turns out there were no studs supporting the ends and no joist hangers were used, allowing the joists to sag quite a bit, which explains the uneven ceiling.

Chimney and Fireplace

Lots of delayed updates.  Got the chimney capped and insulated. Also removed the brick from the fireplace in the basement and removed the ceiling drywall.
