Laundry Room

The laundry room (in the basement bathroom) was in pretty sad shape.  The valves had seized so I wasn't even able to swap out the washer/dryer.  I also managed to drop a plug down the drain there, so I'll have to redo the water lines.  Right now it's being torn apart so I can get access.  Also a good opportunity to see what I'm dealing with behind the walls. Better than I expected actually.  No insulation, but good copper tubing throughout and good plumbing work.

Refrigerator

Even while the kitchen is torn up, I didn't want to live with the crappy old fridge w/o an ice maker.  So out with the old: In with the new Samsung That will tide me over until I can really tear into the kitchen.  If I put trim around it, it gets pretty close to a built in look without all the fuss and cost.  And it's easier to replace in the event of failure.  Could look like this.

Exposing the Flaws

Starting to tear things apart to get a look at the condition.  This is the window above the door.  I'd noticed a drip above the door, and assumed that window was in really bad shape and wasn't dissapointed. It's just a single pane of raw glass.  It was covered by the aluminum trim that I removed, exposing the wood that was rotted underneath.  Expected, as the aluminum cover was just keeping all the water in, so it had to be removed.  This is likely the worst window in the house.  In this picture I've already sealed the lower pane just to avoid short-term water ingress while I sort out the details.  The lead time on new windows is about 20 weeks, so it will take a while to get it replaced.

Kitchen Clearing

Finally removing all of the non-structural framing in the kitchen wall.  It will likely stay like this for a little while as the exterior is higher priority.  But this allows me to start planning better and laying things out.  I'll also probably pull some of the ceiling drywall out soon so I can determine what I'm dealing load-bearing wise.

Windows Starting

Removing the drywall and trim around the windows so that I can measure for replacements.  Also cut the drywall around the water plumbing that was exposed in the basement.  Discovered it was just really, really lazy plumbing.  They moved the exterior faucet and didn't bother to replumb correctly.

Rear Deck Removal

Starting to tear out the rear deck.  It's in such bad shape there is nothing to salvage, and I need it off so I can evaluate the wall and determine what repairs are needed.  Did the lower part first, then I'll do the main part later.
